Intersection Exhibition – Yangon
March 23 - April 8
Intersection: an interweaving of poetry and visual art as seen through the work of visual artist Nicola Anthony and poet Marc Nair.
This exhibition opens on March 23rd, 2018 in Myanm/art Gallery, Yangon.
The work which has taken five years to create is a collaboration between the two artists of memories and impressions of three cities Yangon, London, and Singapore. It is an architectural memory map of these cities. The artists engaged in extensive field research in each of the countries in order to produce the work.
An exhibition consisting of installation works, sculptures, poems and drawings, Intersection is a continual “work in progress” for the artists. It was originally exhibited in 2017 in Singapore.
Through this work, they endeavour to “express the secret links which bind personal and national stories”. In doing so, they show how “a universal dimension exists in any personal experience, transcending time and space”.
Nicola’s artwork incorporates and reflects Marc’s poems and his poems evolve in response to Nicola’s artworks.
