La Colline – théâtre national in Paris presents a large-scale, international ensemble theatre production based on a documentary film trilogy by Amos Gitai Amos, an artist and an Israeli filmmaker.

House tells the story of a West Jerusalem home through autobiographical accounts of its successive inhabitants, Palestinians and Israelis. This production is based on Gitai’s documentary trilogy, filmed over a span of 25 years (1980, 1998, 2006). The first film was originally commissioned by and subsequently banned by Israeli television.

House is a dialogue between actors and musicians from Israel, Palestine, Iran, France, Germany and the UK. They speak and sing in Arabic, English, French, Hebrew and Yiddish. House is an attempt to discuss the present and future whilst paying mind to the past.

Amos Gitai is an award-winning Israeli-French filmmaker. House is produced by La Colline – théâtre national, one of Europe’s most important cultural institutions in Paris.
