The Olivier award-winning, ground-breaking cabaret, La Clique is returning to the West End. With a preview on 8th of November La Clique officially opens the curtains on 15th November and runs until 6th of January 2024 in the iconic Spiegeltent in Leicester Square. As we enter the Christmas Season, you can enjoy a perfect night out at the critically acclaimed, pulse-racing show.

Circus Artist Tara Boom spoke with us about the show.

How did you get into circus performing?

Boom: I was inspired to start circus simply because it means my workplace will always be serving fresh hot popcorn! And who doesn’t love that!

But also… when I was eight years old I was transfixed at a school assembly watching one of the original Circus Oz performers balance 4 chairs on his face. And I started circus classes right away!

What is it you love about performing in Cabaret?

Boom: Because Cabaret it is the naughty cousin of circus! Anything goes in cabaret. It is where all genres collide, from circus, burlesque, music, vaudeville and more! And if your brain works in weird and wonderful ways like mine it, it’s the perfect place to show the mash up of madness! Plus every cabaret has a surplus of prosecco and hot babes, And who am I to turn down either.

Can you tell us what to expect in your act at La Clique?

Boom: Well, haha! I love to leave audiences confused, I present two incredibly different acts. That’s right this little lady has range! One of them you will never forget and the other you may wish you could. High skill and high stupidity! There will be umbrellas, popcorn, butter and a conveniently hidden salt shaker…

Can you tell what an audience will enjoy from this year’s La Clique in Leicester Square?

Boom: You will bloody enjoy all of it! Or if you don’t like an act, I am sure one of our acrobats would happily sit on your face to shield your eyes.

La Clique is famous for bringing the crème de la crème of the performance world together on it’s iconic red stage. We all specialise in various disciplines, so there really is something for everyone. But obviously you will love my acts best! Haha!

What are you looking forward to in performing in the La Clique festival?

Boom: I love both of my acts! One act in particular I use as an alternative to going to therapy and it is oh so much cheaper! And with the current state of the world, I like every body have a lot of emotions that need dealing with.

Whilst the other, I literally lie down and relax… (I may or may not be balancing umbrellas on my feet at this point) and here, I really do just lie back and fill my self up with the love and energy in the tent, that is uniquely exchanged during live performance.
