I recently attended Blippi the musical at the Apollo theatre in London with my 22 month old son and my husband. He has just starting watching Blippi youtube videos and is very responsive to them, so I was delighted to see he made the connection to what he was seeing in a live setting.
He recognised immediately the connection between what he saw on the television to what he was seeing on stage and pointed at it enthusiastically. He particularly responded to the “transportation” song and “brushing your teeth” song. It was such a lovely thing to watch.
From the very beginning the cast of Blippi were full of beans and delivered this high energy performance with such enthusiasm. The slap stick comedy was very effective throughout. I will say for us adults and younger children the decibel level was a bit too loud for that time in the morning.
My son is relatively new to Blippi, but I also observed the more avid fans positive response. A lot of them were older than my son and were adorned with all the merchandise. It was clear they absolutely loved the performance.
70 minutes was probably the longest time to keep our son’s attention, he became a bit tired after about 30 minutes but I could see the older children were completely enthusiastic to the end.
