With homage to Jeff Koon’s 1988 Pink Panther, visual artist Olga Lomaka lit up the iconic Innova development in Croydon during Monday night’s White Party, with a striking, monumental projection film – visible from streets all around the building. In a colourful montage peppered humorously with the Pink Panther, the artist nodded to some other stars of the art world: Fontana, Magritte and Warhol.
And in the members lounge, three-dimensional Pink Panther sculptures by Lomaka were also unveiled as part of a showcase to run until the end of August. Entitled ‘Pink Magic’, this series was selected by Grayson Perry for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Olga Lomaka is also currently exhibiting in Venice as part of this year’s Venice Biennale.
Tuning into a new landscape of modern urban living, Innova is redrawing the lines and dismantles design convention, as well as delivering various entertainment and networking events. The White Party was particularly special, featuring a rare, one-off live performance from the true pioneers of hip hop, the Sugarhill Gang and Grandmaster Mele Mel & SCORPIO FURIOUS 5.
‘Pink Magic’ will be at Innova, 4 Edridge Road, Croydon CR0 1FE until 31st August 2019.
