A Pissedmas Carol, part of the Sh!t-faced Showtime, is back at the Leicester Square Theatre and is a hilarious performance throughout. It runs from 28th of November until 6th January 2024.
The two-hour show (which includes an intermission) has sexual references and innuendo throughout. This is not for children or for easily offended adults. The show begins with Charles Dicken’s himself, describing the show as a “throbbing Dicken’s of pleasure”. Dicken’s informs us that four hours before the show the actors had a pre-party and with one of the cast members getting hammered.
A “shit-faced” Scrooge (played by John Milton) staggers on stage and drinks throughout the performance. He proceeds to go off script, requiring the other actors to improv and go in whichever direction the drunk actor decides to go.
The audience are encouraged to get involved in panto-like fashion, which they enthusiastically do. There is a fantastic festive atmosphere in the theatre with the cast singing every Christmas song in memory from an altered holy night, Wham’s last Christmas and East 17’s Stay another day. There is a poignant rendition of Fairytale in New York on the day we lost our beloved talented Irish musician Shane MacGowan.
