Dick Whittington, the pantomime is back for the 13th time at Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury and will run from 25 November 2023 – 7 January 2024. Artistic Director of Wiltshire Creative Gareth Machin directs this year’s production which features writing by trio Plested, Brown & Wilsher returning to Salisbury for a second year. 

Actor Lindo Shinda spoke to The Artiscape about performing in the upcoming pantomime.

What attracted you to the script?

Shinda: The script is ridiculously witty, and it’s full of jokes that I just think everyone will get, it’s so heartwarming in places, and I guarantee you’ll be leaving the room fulfilled with joy. 

Can you tell us about Cosmo, the character you play?

Shinda: Cosmo is such a sassy little cat and is really determined to get what she wants, but there are some tender moments with Dick that is just so special. She really shows how courage will always win. 

What do you feel an audience will enjoy about this production?

Shinda: I feel like the audience will get a sense warmth and generosity with this production its covers everything, from witty lines to heartwarming moments and the set design,and lighting is just out of this world.
