This year’s The Print and the Poem series will see light artist Chris Levine present a unique print entitled Stillness Is A Portal To The Divine, a portrait of world-famous supermodel Kate Moss. Established in 2015, the series is a co-publication by Jealous Gallery and Enitharmon Editions released annually as part of the London Original Print Fair hosted by the Royal Academy.

While this year’s fair takes place virtually, the print will be available to purchase and view in person at Jealous Gallery in London between 1-8 May 2021.

The digital print of Moss will be overlaid with the text ‘Stillness is a portal to the divine’, screen-printed on a separate sheet of clear acetate. These words, contributed by Levine, are reflective of the meditative resonance of his portraits as he captures his subjects in a moment of stillness.

Levine first photographed Moss in 2013, and his previous portraits have included other notable cultural figures such as Grace Jones, Dalai Lama, and most famously Queen Elizabeth II.

The 45 x 59.4 cm work is an edition of 250 and comes presented in a neon pink Perspex box with a colophon sheet giving the particulars of the edition. The price of the print starts at £1,800.

Conceived in 2015 between Stephen Stuart-Smith from Enitharmon and Jealous Director Dario Illari, The Print and the Poem has the intention of initiating a valid and honest dialogue between art and writing. The presentation of each publication in the form of a portfolio is also intrinsic to the project, with each portfolio and its contents being an object to be explored and engaged with.

The Print and the Poem series is being enthusiastically collected both by institutions and by private collectors, and it now forms part of the Victoria & Albert Museum’s National Art Library. Previous artists selected for the Print and Poem Series have included: David Shrigley, The Chapman Brothers, Gary Hume, Rachel Howard and Gavin Turk.
