Musicals by Candlelight London performances are currently taking place at The Actor’s Church in Covent Garden in London. This is a one hour of pure bliss with all the memorable songs from well known musicals by the world class string quartet, Icon Strings, who play instrumental versions of memorable ballads from Dirty Dancing, Evita, Hamilton, Footloose and Mamma Mia.
Kirsten Jenson, who plays the Cello, gives a lovely introduction to what we are about to hear every two songs. There are a couple of surprise songs that we are treated too that are not on the programme.
To have songs like Holding out for a Hero from Footloose played as string performance without vocals is a very interesting experience as the words are still playing in my head.
This intimate space in Covent Garden is adorned with battery operated candles (so the London fire brigade can breath a sigh of relief).
