Directed by Hannah Hauer-King The Swell which was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Playwriting in 2020 is currently showing at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond, London from 24 June 2023 – 29 July 2023.
In a story of love and betrayal, writer Isley Lynn’s The Swell gives us a poignant love triangle between three women.
Annie is finally happy – she’s engaged to the love of her life, Bel. This however is all about to change when she introduces Belle her fiance to her longtime friend Flo. In contrast to Annie who is steady, work and family orientated, Flo is this fun-loving and free-spirited trouble-maker. She decides to invite herself to live with them. This reunion turns into a complicated love triangle that with dire circumstances.
Along side this plot runs the story of these women decades into the future. This is played by older actors. This sharp and bold play will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end.
